In the High Himalayas of Nepal, children are sent from their remote villages to a Buddhist monk-led school in Kathmandu. After a decade of being away, a group of 16 year-olds are making their journey home, with the danger of earthquakes looming.

Children of the Snow Land tells the story of a group of children born in the High Himalayas of Nepal – a beautiful but remote place where life is extremely tough. From just four years old, some children are sent by their parents to the capital city, Kathmandu, to a school run by a Buddhist monk in the hope that education will give them a better chance in life.

Due to the remoteness of their villages, they don’t speak to their parents and families for 10 years or more. Now aged 16, they are making the journey home, where their parents are waiting to welcome back children brought up in a world of mobile phones, social media and most modern conveniences.

Their return then coincides with the tragic 2015 earthquake that hit Nepal, and Children of the Snow Land follows the impact it has on this small community.
